Job Summary:

The University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, School of Dental Medicine welcomes applications from exceptional candidates for full-time Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (clinical teaching or tenure track) in the Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences and Surgical Dentistry. The primary responsibilities will include didactic and clinical instruction of students and residents, scholarly activities, and service. We are seeking an outstanding individual with excellent leadership skills to contribute to all aspects of our clinical practice, our educational programs, and the research impact of our institution.

The Department of Diagnostic Sciences and Surgical Dentistry is home to four divisions - the Divisions of Periodontics, Endodontics, Diagnostic Sciences, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The successful candidate will be an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, outstanding clinician-educator with interest in, and commitment to clinical care, teaching, and scholarship.

Examples of Work Performed

Clinical and Clinical Teaching

Primary responsibilities include clinical care, sedation coverage, and clinical teaching focused on collaboratively building and/or maintaining programs within the SDM that provide quality service regarding local, state, national, and international needs in alignment with the mission and strategic plan of the SDM. Participation in the faculty practice is also expected; faculty are expected to have 40% of their time engaging in considerable clinical activity.

Service

Service responsibilities include service to the assigned program, the school, and with other responsibilities as negotiated.

Research/Scholarship

Research /scholarship responsibilities offer an opportunity collaborate on or initiate programmatic inquiry and scholarship in alignment with SDM mission and vision.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and based on experience and qualifications as indicated below. Initial rank is based upon knowledge, achievement, and experience, and with the opportunity for academic promotion based upon demonstrated, ongoing excellence in education, research, clinical care, and community service. Applicants must have a clinical, scholarly, and/or academic record consistent with each SDM Faculty appointment level in the School of Dental Medicine.

Assistant Professor:
  • A DDS/DMD degree from a CODA accredited U.S. dental school or foreign equivalent
  • Completion in CODA accredited Advanced Dental Residency Program
  • Eligibility for a Colorado dental license
  • At this rank, applicants will usually have some successful teaching experience and will be expected to teach and/or provide clinical care.

Associate Professor:
  • A DDS/DMD degree from a CODA accredited U.S. dental school or foreign equivalent
  • Completion in CODA accredited Advanced Dental Residency Program
  • Eligibility for a Colorado dental license
  • At this rank, applicants will be well qualified to teach and/or provide clinical care with considerable demonstrated evidence of successful teaching and demonstrated leadership and service.

Professor:
  • A DDS/DMD degree from a CODA accredited U.S. dental school or foreign equivalent
  • Completion in CODA accredited Advanced Dental Residency Program
  • Eligibility for a Colorado dental license

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
  • Assistant Professor: $225,000 - $324,000
  • Associate Professor: $325,000 - $374,000
  • Professor: $375,000 - $400,000

*Practice Incentive Earnings are not included in the starting salary range compensation. They are additive based on clinical activity and can represent a significant increase in annual compensation.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
