In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Job Summary
Conduct teaching and patient care activities for the College of Dental Medicine with a primary role in the Community-Based Dental Education (CBDE) curriculum, as well as scholarly and service activities in support of the mission, goals and objectives of the College and University. This is a grant funded position.

Required Qualifications
Education: D.D.S. or D.M.D from an institution accredited by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation or equivalent, and/or completion of an advanced dental residency program at an institution accredited by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation or equivalent.Licensure and Certification: Must have active California license or be qualified to obtain licensure in California.

Preferred Qualifications
Background in public health and community dentistry; comprehensive clinical experience spanning all ages (e.g. pediatric, geriatric, special health care needs); and experience in clinical practice and academics.

Teaching:
This position holds teaching responsibilities in Community-Based Dental Education (CBDE) and as assigned. The faculty member will:
1. Assist in implementation and delivery of the CBDE and as assigned curriculum, provide clinical supervision, and aid those aspects of student life which relate to the educational process.
2. Conduct preclinical and clinical assignments according to the published schedule.
3. Maintain intellectual integrity and strive for academic excellence.
4. Promote adequate standards of linguistic expression in writing and speech.
5. Maintain current records of the progress, including assessments, of each assigned student.
6. Assist with the implementation of the continuum of the dental students clinical experience from the foundational skills in the didactic curriculum to patient-centered care that integrates basic and behavioral science, as appropriate.
